Board Minutes – November 10, 2020

The Adams County Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at 1:00 pm with the following members present: Bobbi Maynes, Scott Akin, and Doug Birt. Leland Shipley and Merlin Dixon were absent. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Scott Akin. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Maynes moved, seconded by Birt to approve today’s agenda along with the minutes of the November 2nd meeting.  All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried. 

Birt moved, seconded by Maynes to approve Utility permit #20-17 for James Kean/ESB Clark Heavy Contracting for cleaning up of the ditch at Adams Cass Street west of Chestnut Avenue. All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried. 

Maynes moved, seconded by Birt to approve the claims as follows. All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried.

Nancy Barnes, Adams County Treasurer, updated to board on the ACH origination Agreement with TS Bank. The last time the agreement was done was in 2017 and there are a few changes Barnes would like to make. Birt moved, seconded by Maynes to approve the changes to the ACH Origination Agreement with TS Bank. All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried. 

The Board of Supervisors, under the authority of the 2020 Code of Iowa, Chapter 50.27, formed a canvassing board to check the returns of the General Election held on November 3, 2020.  The findings, thereof, are recorded in length in Election Book #8 in the Adams County Auditor’s Office.  Pursuant to Iowa Code Chapter 50.22, one (1) provisional ballot was received and rejected by the Special Precinct Board.  County officers were declared elected as follows:

Supervisor District 2 – Merlin R. Dixon

Supervisor District 5 – Bobbi J. Baker-Maynes

County Auditor – Becky Bissell

County Sheriff – Alan Johannes

Soil and Water Conservation District Commissioners – Dan Kretzinger, William Shipley, Marnie Cline

County Agricultural Extension Council – Daniel Steeve, Susan Bagby, Emily Anderson, Daniel Lamgo

Oral reports were presented by the board members as follows: Maynes – Crossroads, Nov 5, Zoom, and RC&D, Nov 5, Creston; and Birt – SICOG, Nov 3, Creston via zoom.

Birt moved, seconded by Maynes to adjourn the meeting at 3:05 pm. All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried.
