Board Minutes – May 26, 2020
The Adams County Board of Supervisors met on Monday, May 26, 2020 at 9:00 am in the Adams County Courtroom and via Zoom with the following members present: Leland Shipley (via phone), Scott Akin, Doug Birt, Merlin Dixon, and Bobbi Maynes. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Scott Akin. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Dixon moved, seconded by Birt to approve today’s agenda along with the minutes of the May 18th meeting. All supervisors voted aye. Motion carried.
Birt moved, seconded by Dixon to approve Utility Permit 20-05 for MidAmerican Energy for multiple locations. All supervisors voted aye. Motion carried.
Dixon moved, seconded by Birt to approve executing the Farm to Market Rock bid to Shildberg Construction. All supervisors voted aye. Motion carried.
Engineer Travis Malone shared with the board the bridge quotes for Union 20 on Union Ave which is a Farm to Market Route, Union 23 on Willow north of Hwy 34, and Mercer 12 on 265th Ave which is also a Farm to Market Route. For Union 20 bids were received from Murphy Construction for $83,337 and from GovCo for $75,525. For Union 23 bids were received from Murphy Construction for $79,715 and from GovCo for $73,310. For Mercer 12 bids were received from Murphy Construction for $102,455 and from GovCo for $86,300. Malone plans to accept the following quotes: for Union 20 -Murphy Construction, for Mercer 12 GovCo, and for Union 23 GovCo all dependent on budget constraints going forward.
Malone also discussed with the board changing some Level A roads to Level B roads and also the need to vacate some roads as they no longer serve a home or building. There was no action requested to be taken at this time but Malone wanted the board to be aware of these situations and the status of these various roads.
Maynes moved, seconded by Dixon to approve claims as follows: All supervisors voted aye. Motion carried.

Dixon moved, seconded by Maynes to approve opening the Public Hearing for the FY20 Budget Amendment at 10:00 am. There were no oral or written objections. Birt moved, seconded Dixon by to approve closing the public hearing at 10:05 am. Maynes moved, seconded by Shipley to approve Resolution 2020-28 Approving and 100% Appropriation of FY 20 Budget Amendment. All supervisors voted aye. Motion carried.
Oral reports on additional meetings attended by the Board were discussed as follows: Akin – Southern Hills Mental Health, Corning.
Maynes moved, seconded by Dixon to adjourn the meeting at 10:30 am.
