Board Minutes – March 1, 2021

The Adams County Board of Supervisors met on Monday, March 1, 2021 at 9:00 am with the following members present: Bobbi Maynes, Leland Shipley, Scott Akin, Doug Birt, and Merlin Dixon. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Maynes. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Akin moved, seconded by Dixon to approve today’s agenda and the minutes from the February 22, 2021, meeting.  All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried

County Engineer Travis Malone discussed the rejection of all bids by the City of Corning for the Hull Street bridge replacement project. The proposal is being modified prior to being relet in the upcoming DOT’s October letting. Bridge Washington 6 emergency repairs have started. The recently purchased bulldozer is about ready for delivery. Iowa Homeland Security’s 10% matching funding from FEMA completed projects should be received in the next couple of weeks. The County is also eligible for another 5% in matching funding for contract administration and engineering time expended by the Secondary Roads office staff.

Discussion was held regarding sharing an IT employee with Taylor county. The details are to be sorted out between the two county attorneys in a 28E Agreement.

Oral reports were presented by board members as follows: Birt – DHS/DCAT, Creston, Feb. 19, Heartland, Creston, Feb. 25; Dixon – SCI-911, Zoom, Feb. 24, Trolley, Creston, Feb. 25; Akin – CHI, Corning, Feb. 19; Maynes – Crossroads, Creston, Feb. 22.

Akin moved, seconded by Birt to adjourn the meeting.  All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried.
