The Adams County Board of Supervisors met on Monday, June 15, 2020 at 9:00 am with the following members present: Leland Shipley, Scott Akin, Merlin Dixon, Doug Birt and Bobbi Maynes. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Scott Akin. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Birt moved, seconded by Maynes to approve today’s agenda along with the minutes of the June 8th meeting. All supervisors voted aye. Motion carried.
Emergency Management Director Bill Lyddon discussed with the board the process on how the flood plan can be updated and that Adams County can participate again by filling out an application, passing a resolution, and appointing someone to oversee the plan.
Maynes moved, seconded by Shipley to approve Utility Permit #20-06 for Farmers Mutual Telephone Company on Quince in the City of Prescott. All supervisors voted aye. Motion carried.
Engineer Travis Malone updated the board on current and upcoming bridge projects, Juniper Avenue, and the EWP projects.
Kathy Bozwell and Melody Winkler, representing the Adams County Fair Board, discussed the 2020 Adams County Fair and the financial support the county provides every year. Since they won’t be having entertainment, they wanted some guidance on how they should spend the donation. The Board recommended saving some of the donation for the 2021 fair as they are unsure of what the budget picture will be in the upcoming year.
Birt moved, seconded by Dixon to approve the Bible reading on the Court House lawn on July 14, 2020. All supervisors voted aye. Motion carried.
The Post-Election Audit/ Auditor Certification for the 2020 Primary Election was filed with the Adams County Board of Supervisors. The audit was performed on June 10, 2020, at 10:00 am with the results from the hand counted audit matching the machine count results perfectly.
Conservation Director Travis Paul gave an update on the activities at Lake Icaria and the campgrounds. Camping spaces are filling up fast. Paul is working with County Attorney Knuth on ordinances to prohibit alcohol, smoking, and pets at the beach area.
