The Adams County Board of Supervisors met on Monday, January 6, 2020 at 9:00 am with the following members present: Leland Shipley, Scott Akin, Doug Birt, Bobbi Maynes, and Merlin Dixon. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Scott Akin. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Akin asked to add the approval of Jason McManis to the Zoning Commission to the agenda. Maynes moved, seconded by Dixon to approve today’s agenda as amended. All supervisors voted aye. Motion carried.
Engineer Travis Malone updated the board on his department. The crew is busy cleaning trees out of ditches. He also is busy with EWP documents.
Maynes moved, seconded by Birt to approve Jared Robinson as Mercer Township Trustee. All supervisors voted aye. Motion carried.
Birt moved, seconded by Maynes to approve Jason McManis as Zoning Commission. All supervisors voted aye. Motion carried.
Dixon moved, seconded by Birt to approve Liquor License LC0041404 for the Brooks Bar. All supervisors voted aye. Motion carried.
At 11:00 am the City of Corning’s Attorney Matthew Hanson held a consultation meeting pursuant to Iowa Code Section 368.7 with the Board of Supervisors and the Quincy Township Trustees regarding annexing property locally known as the Reservoir from County to City limits. The board wanted to make sure the legal description was clear. Conservation Director Travis Paul discussed his concerns of the property currently being public hunting ground and if that will continue if the property is in the city limits. Mayor Janice Leonard responded the city ordinances allow for bow and arrow hunting with permission from the council.
