Board Minutes – December 7, 2020

The Adams County Board of Supervisors met on Monday, December 7, 2020 at 9:00 am with the following members present: Scott Akin, Leland Shipley, Merlin Dixon and Doug Birt who entered the meeting at 9:10 AM. Bobbi Maynes was absent. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Scott Akin. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Dixon moved, seconded by Shipley to approve today’s agenda along with the minutes of the November 30th meeting.  All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried. 

            The Oath of Office was performed by Notary Nancy Turner to swear into office the Sheriff Alan Johannes, Auditor Becky Bissell, and Supervisor District 2 Merlin Dixon.

Dixon moved, seconded by Shipley to approve Resolution 2020-39 Transferring Secondary Roads Tax Dollars in the amount of $553,544.26 from Rural Services to Secondary Roads. All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried. 

Shipley moved, seconded by Dixon to approve Utility Permit #20-20 for Corning Municipal Utilities on Iris Ave. All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried.

Malone updated the board on Secondary Roads projects around the county. They are still looking for a bulldozer and there is an auction coming up on Dec 30th. The Secondary Roads crew is working cutting brush and clearing ditches. Federal bridge guidelines have changed their classifications for rating bridges. In light of this, Malone will be reevaluating Adams County’s bridge inspections to see where the county lands with the revised ratings for federal funding.

Travis Paul, Conservation Director, gave an update on his department and the progress of the new shop and office space being constructed.

Birt moved, seconded by Shipley to approve the claims as presented.  All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried.

Dixon, moved, seconded by Birt to approve the appointment of Richard Notz as Grant Township Trustee.  All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried.

Oral reports were presented by the board members as follows: Dixon – SCI 911, Dec 2, via Zoom; Birt – SICOG, Dec 1, Creston, Heartland, Dec 3, Creston; and Akin – CHI, Dec 3, Corning.

Dixon moved, seconded by Shipley to adjourn the meeting at 11:00 am. All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried.
